2014 Scholarship Winners

South Bay Women’s Network (SBWN) awarded four (4) $1000 scholarships this year to Cuesta College re-entry female students, Sabrina Bussell, a divorced mother of a daughter, she is pursuing a career in early childhood education in order to be self sufficient and give back to the community; Jimi McFarlin, a single mother of four, pursuing an AA in Human Services/Family Studies with plans for a BA in Child Psychology; Courtnay Jones both a single mother and grandmother, pursuing a career in Environmental Health and Safety; Ashley Erden a single mother of twin girls pursuing a career in Family Studies/Human Services. Funds for these scholarships were raised at the 2014 Speakeasy Scholarship Benefit, Pennies from Heaven luncheon meeting fundraiser and generous donations from SBWN member Alyce Thorp and other SBWN members.

2013 Scholarships Awarded

schoalrship winners 2013South Bay Women’s Network (SBWN) awarded three (3) $500 scholarships this year to Cuesta College re-entry female students, Amanda Galaviz, single mother of a daughter; Dana Allen a single mother, pursuing a career as a paralegal; Danielle Bowen, a divorced mother of four, pursuing a career in medical assisting. Funds for these scholarships were raised at the 2013 Summer Evening Mixer, Pennies from Heaven luncheon meeting fundraiser and a generous donation from Alyce Thorp, a former SBWN president.

2012 Scholarship Awarded

South Bay Women’s Network have selected Nicole Oliveros and Kim Jolicoeur as recipients of the 2012 SBWN Educational Scholarship Fund, a scholarship program which supports local women pursuing an education. Potential recipients either applied themselves or were nominated, and each was required to be a female Cuesta College re-entry student.

Funds for these scholarships were raised at the 2012 Summer Evening Mixer and our Pennies from Heaven meeting fundraiser.
